We pray your New Year has started off well. Thank you all for your continued support of Heather and I and our kids whether that is prayer support or financial support or both. We are so so grateful for you!
It has been awesome to see how God has been working in and through the church here over these last couple months. Here are some highlights:
• On Sunday, November 24th, we had 3 people baptized! One just repented of his sin and trusted in Christ mid way through 2024 and then other two were believers who had not been baptized.
• The week of thanksgiving was a busy one:
• We had the chance to join together with 2 other churches for a Thanksgiving Service on Tuesday of the week of Thanksgiving. It was a sweet time!
• On Wednesday of the week of Thanksgiving, as a church, we went to Faith Baptist Community Center in Cleveland (FBCC’s website - freehope.org/) and helped them pack Thanksgiving giveaway bags and then spent time eating lunch and talking with the people who came in for the free lunch FBCC offers on Wednesdays.
• Thursday morning of the week of Thanksgiving, we had our annual Flag Football Turkey Bowl where we had several unsaved guys come out and the gospel was proclaimed.
• We took a Christmas Offering as a church starting at the end of November and going through the first couple weeks of December. We set the goal of collecting $2300 to divide between our 4 active missionaries and 1 retired missionary as well as helping Faith Baptist Community Center and Church in Cleveland purchase gifts for kids that are a part of FBCC. The church met and exceeded the goal!
• We had a 55th anniversary celebration of the church meeting in this location (1744 Drake Rd, Strongsville) on Sunday, December 22nd. We had a potluck lunch. Some former members of the church joined us to celebrate. One of the families that was previous members at the church is not currently attending church anywhere and has two teenagers that want to jump into our Youth Group which is exciting. 75 people in all were there. It was such a great day!
• We finished 2024 with 13 of 16 Sunday mornings having an attendance of 50 or more with 60 being the highest. That is big considering at the start of 2024 we had several weeks of being in the 30’s.
• We are having our first new members lunch and orientation taking place January 19th of this year and should have 3-5 people jump in!
Those are a few highlights. Over all God has been gracious and kind to our church and our family and Heather and I and our kids are humbled, grateful and excited to be a part of what He is doing here in Strongsville!
Here are a couple prayer requests on the church side of things:
• That our people would be continue to be unified in our mission and vision as a church. We are taking these first two Sundays in January to walk through our mission and vision again.
• We need to start figuring out some maintenance and upgrades for our building. Pray that God would give us wisdom and discernment in that and for Him to provide the finances to take care of what is needed.
Here are a couple prayer requests for our family:
• Hudson is healing up so well from his knee surgery. We are so thankful for that and are just praying the plates and screws that were put in work as they are supposed to in correcting the issue with his legs. Thank you all for praying for him and please continue!
• We are trying to figure out being able to go visit my parents this year in Canada. It has been a little over 2 years since we have been able to get up there. We were just able to see my mom at Thanksgiving as she flew down but we haven’t been able to see my dad for a year and a half.
• On the financial support side of things - the church is still not at a point to be able to support our family financially fully and we don’t want to be a burden on the church. If you know of anyone or a church that would consider supporting us, please let Heather or I know.
One other note: I have an official email now - steve@fbcstrongsville.com. If you could use that email from here on out, that would be great!
I think that is it for now. We praise the Lord for you!
Grace and Peace,
Steve Lytle
