Hey Erik,
With the way web development is going nowadays, knowing JavaScript makes a hell of a difference. It can help you get hired into a good dev job. It can also help you create delight with nice interactions and animations on your site.
Deep inside, you know you need to learn JavaScript.
And let’s be honest. You tried learning it!
But things you read about JavaScript went past your head. You don’t understand the jargon and terminologies used. You don’t understand the concepts. You don’t know how to apply what you learned about JavaScript to build practical things.
You got scared.
You became overwhelmed and confused. Maybe you’re doubting yourself right now. What if you can’t learn JavaScript? Are you cut out to be a developer? Should you continue this path?
How do you make sense of ES6, React, Vue, Webpack, npm, Gulp, Node, and ALL THE DIFFERENT THINGS you heard about JavaScript? Where do you even start learning JavaScript?
You are not alone, Erik.
Developers — both new and experienced — face the same problem with JavaScript. There are so many things to learn. And things change so quickly, you can’t help but suffocate.
It’s overwhelming, really. That’s why people came up with the term JavaScript Fatigue. It can be super tiring to learn JavaScript.
Learning JavaScript doesn’t have to be hard (even if you’re new)
It can be SUPER FUN! 😸
There’s a way to get good quickly. You can start building cool stuff before you know it. And you can enjoy every moment of the learning process. (Yes, even the frustrating parts).
You can go from knowing nothing to becoming a solid frontend developer (or even full-stack) without ever feeling like an idiot.
You just need to know how.
This is why I built this JavaScript Roadmap. I want to show you the way, so you can enjoy learning JavaScript. So you can feel confident about it. So you can wield its powers for yourself in the near future. ⚡
What to expect
There are 8 lessons in this course: You'll get one lesson via email every day. They are:
- Lesson 1: Fighting fear, overwhelm, and confusion,
- Lesson 2: Learning JavaScript with rocket speed
- Lesson 3: Learning JavaScript from scratch
- Lesson 4: Building simple things and thinking like a developer
- Lesson 5: Mastering the DOM
- Lesson 6: Playing with JavaScript
- Lesson 7: Exploration beyond JavaScript
- Lesson 8: Choosing what to learn next
Each lesson contains a [JSR] prefix in the subject (like this one). Watch out for them! 👀.
A few days into the JSR, I'm going to open enrollment for Learn JavaScript just for you. Going through Learn JavaScript will facilitate your mastery of JavaScript so I'm stoked to let you in. Keep a look out for it too!
Don't rush
I packed a ton of material into this roadmap, you'll be busy for months if you stick to it. Don't try to rush through the lessons. Take it step by step and you'll become great at JavaScript in no time.
I highly recommend saving the emails so you can come back to it :)
Expect to get your hands dirty. I’ll send you things to read (both free and paid materials). You need to study them. You need to whip out your code editor and write code. You need to do this work or you’ll learn nothing.
If you don’t want to code, scroll down and click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of this email to unsubscribe from the course right now.
What to do for today
We have lots of work to do from now on. So for today, chill. 🙂
In the next lesson, I’ll show you how to tackle the sick feeling of overwhelm and confusion. These feelings ruined the lives of many budding developers like yourself.
You shall not be another victim.
To prepare yourself for the lesson, think about why you feel overwhelmed and confused when you learn JavaScript.
Hit reply and let me know why. I read every response and I reply to as many as I can.
Stay awesome,
