Hearts are Full

Hello! Some of you may have gotten this information already, but our sweet baby boy arrived on May 3rd. His name is Beau Timothy Barta and he arrived SWIFTLY! Labor for Lindsey was just 2.5 hours before she was holding our new child.

Since then, we have been very well supported by our families as well as our local church family. Fortunately for us, we have some dear friends here that just went through all of this just a year ago and they have been a wealth of information and support.

We love having him around, and we feel so blessed that he is healthy and Lindsey is healthy as well. Beau is worth every hour of lost sleep 😌

Summer Church @ UB

This year is the first time H2O in Buffalo is doing anything significant over the summer. Normally, none of our students are in Buffalo for the summer because so many of them are not from the area. So, they just return to NYC or Albany or wherever else they are from. But, for whatever reason, this summer we have about a dozen students still in the area and so we felt it was worth it to continue to meet together.

On Sundays, we've been gathering on campus in a much smaller room and worshiping and listening to teaching together. This gathering is actually in the very first room we ever had Sunday Services in! It's so fun that we've outgrown it so much during the regular school year. On Wednesdays, we have been rotating between a normal Bible Study and a community gathering. These have been "low key" enough for them to be beneficial, but not a burden on our leadership. It's nice to have a slower season of ministry during this time of year.

Fall Prep

Over the summer, every year we are evaluating how we can be more impactful on campus. What worked? What didn't? And how are we praying for (and preparing for) God to move on our campus this coming year?

One major thing we are excited about is developing our student members into leaders. Towards the end of the Spring Semester, we casted vision to our members for how they can be the hands and feet of Christ this coming year. We want to hand more of the reins over to them and empower/equip them to reach the lost on our campus and make disciples.

Many of them were excited (and nervous) about the opportunity to take on more responsibility and leadership. Excited (and nervous) about the Lord using them in the lives of people they haven't even met yet.

And so, this summer, we will be meeting with those students that signed up for these roles this coming year, and preparing them as best we can for them. In addition, we have a lot of content to develop to help train and educate our (very) young leaders on how to be effective Christians on our campus.

Support Raising

Finally, due to some (ahem) significant life changes, I'm spending a lot of time this summer doing some more financial support raising. This is, admittedly, one of the most challenging parts of my job. Lots of people don't like being asked for money. But, we still feel called to reach college students for Christ, and this seems to be the best way for us to do that AND take care of our family's needs.
