Prayer Update From The Larsons
Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us!

To our Support Family,
Hey there! Time always flies, and students have been back on campus for over a month! We’ve settled into our Sunday Gatherings, Thursday Bible studies (AKA “Life Groups”) and regular outreach efforts, but obviously, the month of August contained so many unique ministry initiatives and stories of God’s work. Here’s a brief summary of the first month: |
|
Prayer
Prayer is central to Welcome Week! On one of the first mornings of move-in, our church gathered to walk and pray for specific parts of campus. Before and after outreach events, we would pray for Him to work as we lugged cornhole boards, information cards, and sunscreen through the busy walkways.

Equipping
In addition to prayer, we prioritize inviting returning students to join us in serving. From this priority came the first “H2O Open House”! We rented out a coffee shop and invited our church to join us as we shared our vision for the year: “What is your foundation?” We also shared with students several opportunities to serve over Welcome Week, and to take on leadership roles if a particular event was exciting to them! |

Outreach
Of course, what takes up the majority of our hours during August are direct efforts to meet new students. One of the classic, most talked about events is Blastoff, KSU’s student organization fair! Throughout the evening, we welcomed students to our information table, and ventured into the sea of humanity to ask students to fill out surveys. |
|
In addition to KSU events, we planned some of our own outreach efforts as well! On a beautiful Saturday morning, we set up three tables around campus and passed out coffee and doughnuts to passersby. At one point at my table, we were talking to two girls, one from Akron and one all the way from Cambodia! And on the first Wednesday of classes, we held H2O’s Second Annual “Volley Tennis” Tournament! This is a silly sport my brothers and I invented growing up, but it gets competitive! At the end of the night, we had 32 participants and one grand champion. |
|
When all was said and done in August, we had almost sixty different people (aside from staff!) who volunteered to help, over 1000 surveys completed (with two-thirds expressing interest in a Christian ministry), and 130 students indicating that they’d like to meet and talk about Christianity! I cannot wait to tell you stories of how God uses the prayer, equipping, and outreach efforts of August. It is by His Provision that this happens, and you play a huge part in His work here! Thank you for helping to make Welcome Week a reality! |

Prayer Requests:
- Pray for Mario, a new student I’ve spent time with, who wants to explore his faith!
- We’ll be organizing “Coffee on Campus” on Wednesdays! Pray that the casual atmosphere of a coffee table would encourage people to strike up conversation with us who might not otherwise.
- Pray for The Well, an eight week discipleship experience for those new to our church! We’ll get to share the Gospel and invite participants to follow Jesus more deeply in Kent.
