Hi everyone!
I am so excited to let you know that you are all part of my Provisional small group ("Team Elizabeth”). I know this is an uncertain time, but I am confident this will be a great year despite the challenges we all are facing. I met some of my best friends through my provisional team and we still get together regularly (take vacations, book club, etc.) I say all this because the women in this group could end up being your greatest friends/resources throughout your provisional year and beyond!
You’ll learn quickly that most of us in JLA are “type A”; so I have provided you with a lot of information below. I also used my skill set to aggregate information on a microsite, which will be your ultimate cheat sheet this year (hint: bookmarks bar)- jla2021.com.

First, we have a couple of business items to take care of:
- Please complete this quick welcome survey: jla2021.com and schedule your 1-on-1s by Wed., August 11th
- Mark your calendars for Provisional Orientation events on 8/22-8/24 with orientation assignment deadline of 9/1
- Please email me if you have since moved out of the Austin area after registering for the 2021-2022 provisional class
About the Group:
Provisional year will be what you make of it - a chance to meet amazing women and expand your social circle, an opportunity to support area nonprofits through your time and resources, or an introduction to the Austin nonprofit community and network. For each one of you it may be one or all of those things, and I'm here to support you with whatever goals you have for your time in the Junior League. There are ultimately 3 'groups' you'll belong to this year - your Provisional Team, your Provisional Group, and your Provisional Class. Read below for more information on each and related updates:

There are ultimately 3 'groups' you'll belong to this year - your Provisional Team, your Provisional Group, and your Provisional Class. Read below for more information on each and related updates:
- Provisional Team | Team Elizabeth: Provisional teams are an opportunity to connect with a designated group of women in a smaller setting, providing you a built-in network within the League. Our Provisional Team is primarily location-based, with many of us living in the Central/Downtown Austin area. I'm hoping to schedule 1x1 calls with each of you to get to know you and your goals for this League Year. Please complete the welcome survey and schedule your 1-on-1 by Wednesday, August 11th.( 1-on-1s will be only 15-minutes and conducted between August 12 - September 3)
- Provisional Group | Orange Group: Provisional groups are made of several teams and provide an opportunity to further expand your network and mentor potential within the League. Our team is part of the Orange Group, which includes 4 total Provisional Teams (Team Elizabeth, Team Liane, Team Shelly, and Team Meredith). The Orange Group will be offering some smaller social opportunities to provide a space for you to meet others in a setting you feel comfortable in. To help shed some light on your preferences and what 'comfortable' means to you, please complete the welcome survey by Wednesday, August 11th to indicate your interaction preference for group meet-ups.
- Provisional Class | 2021 - 2022: The Provisional Class represents all of this year's Provisionals - 160 in total! As Tima mentioned in her email, we're adjusting some of our initial Provisional Class activities to ensure the health and safety of everyone. We'll have virtual Provisional Orientation sessions on 8/22, 8/23, and 8/24 at 7pm. To kick-off Orientation, we'll be hosting a Provisional Year Drive Thru Kickoff Celebration. I hope you'll come out to meet the Provisional Committee (including me!) and grab your 'Orientation Essentials' gift bag!
About Me:
I live in Zilker with my husband (Travis) and our two cocker spaniels (Bella and Baxter). This is my fifth year in the league and being on the Provisional Committee has been a dream of mine! I am your typical Enneagram 2 (helper and hostess) which means I am eager to be involved in others’ lives (oh hi new friends!), love forming deep relationships, rarely say no to helping others, and always want to prove my value. By day, I am a Freelance Graphic Designer and Realtor and by night I am usually hosting, blowing up balloons (you’ll learn more about that later...), or begrudgingly attending a cycling or pilates class.
We have a fantastic committee that is dedicated to making your first year in the JLA a success! Many more details will be coming soon from the Provisional Committee; please check your emails regularly for updates and also jla2021.com. I'm looking forward to getting to know each of you this year!
Best,
Elizabeth McCormick |
