To our Support Family,
This summer, I’ve had two job roles that have reminded me of why working among college students is such a cool opportunity. First (and more obviously), the highlight of my summer thus far has been hosting a “Postgrad Dinner Club” every-other-week. We cook a meal for our recent graduates, and we talk about the ups and downs of this strange season of life. Some have figured out what’s next, while others have had plans fall through. Some are staying in Ohio, while others will be spreading around the country! These six or so young adults are all on different paths, but it’s been terrific to come together, ask questions, and be there for each other in the difficulties and excitements.Â
The second reminder has been much less obvious: organizing our digital files for our Life Groups. We have years of Bible study plans and schedules on-hand, and organizing these has admittedly not been my favorite job role haha. I’m not the details and logistics person that I’d like to be! But, during this tedious project, I found several spreadsheets that listed out our student Life Group Leaders from year-to-year. These Leaders facilitate our campus Bible studies, and they play a key role in caring for other students. As I compiled those spreadsheets, I realized that we had nearly ten years worth of lists of student leaders! |
|
Not only were Kelly and I in those spreadsheets, but also so many who have already gone on to do amazing things for the Kingdom. One is doing college ministry at the University of Illinois! Many are teachers and nurses, currently making a difference in difficult fields.  Some have gotten married and have kids, while others are investing deeply in Gospel-centered friendships. This otherwise mundane task allowed me to reflect upon the many wonderful people who have helped make the name of Jesus known on this campus. |

These two very different job roles reminded me that the Lord is raising up the next generation of followers of Jesus! Some have graduated from Kent and continued to serve in H2O, while most have gone on to different areas and communities. We get to care for the hearts of each student as they prepare to step into the “real world”, and we witness how the Lord continues to care for them as they begin their next season of life. |
|
You are caring for the next generation of servant-hearted leaders through your prayer and support! We hope that you also sense Jesus’ work in people’s hearts within your own context. Let us know if there’s any way we can be praying for you, and thank you for investing in the next generation! |

- Pray for the students in our postgrad dinner club, that the Lord would continue to be their firm foundation!
- We have five summer small groups in our church! Pray that these groups would be places of grace, confession, and vulnerability.
