A little information regarding our Confirmation Program for the year.
Our Confirmation program for this upcoming year focuses on five key areas: Life Night Meetings, Works of Mercy, a Spiritual Reflection, a sponsor component, and the Damascus Retreat. Each of these areas hope to provide a meaningful and spiritual encounter with Christ.
Life Night Meetings
Students in both 7th and 8th grade will attend a Life Night once per semester. These formation sessions include teaching, prayer, and praise and worship, inviting candidates into a deeper relationship with Christ and His Church.
Works of Mercy (Service Component)
Each candidate will complete one meaningful service activity rooted in the Corporal or Spiritual Works of Mercy. There is no required number of hours; instead, students should be prepared to describe how their service reflects Christian charity. Service completed through school or another organization is acceptable.
Spiritual Reflection
After completing their service, students will submit a short one-page written reflection describing what they did and how it influenced their faith journey.
Sponsor Component
Throughout the year, students will participate in a few brief activities designed to foster meaningful interaction with their chosen sponsor. These moments are intended to strengthen the relationship between candidate and sponsor through shared prayer, conversation, and reflection as they journey together toward Confirmation.
Confirmation Retreat at Damascus (8th Grade Only)
All 8th grade students will participate in a dynamic weekend retreat at Damascus Catholic Mission Campus in Centerburg, Ohio.
• Departure: Friday, September 19 at 4:00 PM from St. Luke
• Return: Sunday, September 21 at approximately 2:00 PM
This retreat is an essential component of preparation and is strongly supported by our pastor, Fr. Kevin Elbert and Lakewood Catholic Academy.
