I thought of each of you today as I was reading in my devotions in second Corinthians . This verse stood out to me:
2 Corinthians 1: 11 You also must help us by prayer, so that many will give thanks on our behalf for the blessing granted us through the prayers of many.
Sometimes, if I can’t put together a newsletter complete with pictures, I end up not doing one at all . I realized that is not good and that if I can’t get a newsletter together then at least I should send out a simple letter.
Our last module of the biblical counseling training is in just a few days from now. (Dec 6,7) I have been getting so busy and I feel like I’m just kicking the can down the road as I’m reacting to challenges that come my way. I do not have enough margin in my life right now. Please pray that I can get some margin back.
Today we went to the printing shop and got 1000 pages printed so that we can provide student notebooks for each participant of the final Module 4 training. While I was waiting on a busy street in the car, Jelena went and got the files for the student books. We put those books together in the car with my emergency flasher lights on, then went to the church and greeted the pastor and his wife and talked with them for a while and put the books in the church and then Jelena and I went a few floors down and visited with the holy land tours tour company for which she has done a few jobs. Then on the way back to her house we still had to get a few items from the ¥100 store and we ran into someone who Jelena has been thinking to contact lately and has not seen her for one year. We still have to send out final emails, check to make sure everyone has completed their homework, make certificates which have to be done very well, coordinate schedules so we can get the trainers to their hotels, welcome the translators… the list goes on. Also, we need to make sure that technology runs smoothly and we have someone who will help us with that. Two of the trainers are coming from America, one interpreter is coming from America and one interpreter is coming from Canada. We were very happy to have a pretty large percentage of people who started the course in the beginning who are going to finish the course. Most are coming from Osaka, but there are a few coming from other places in Japan. All praise goes to God for helping so many complete the course.
Please pray that everyone will stay healthy and will be able to participate fully and that the last two years of this work will have God’s blessing upon it. It is not coincidental that as Jelena and I have gotten involved in this work that God has been sending us people who really need biblical counseling. This is a lay counseling ministry because no one pastor can do all the necessary counseling in his church.
If you would like to get a sample of what this is all about, you can listen to an interview with one of our trainers that we will have this time. She tells about her journey from secular psychology to biblical counseling.
Thank you all for your prayer support and for those who give their financial support to the cooperative program and Lottie Moon offering. I would not be able to put all this effort into this vital ministry without you!
May you have a very blessed Christmas and a new year!
In Christ,
Barb
